Mage Jedi develops tools and techniques to improve efficiency of automatically generated WP content.
The goal is to reduce load time of website pages and have highly SEO optimized sites.
Since systems like wp-mage and few other rely on organic traffic and not paid PPC or PPV/ CPV, our focus should be on building SEO optimized websites.
As Search Engines (SE) keep changing theirs ranking algorithms, so we have to be alert and have our sites tuned, using the latest available techniques to stay in the game.
They are many excellent web designers and programmers who have little knowledge or understanding of SEO.
Relevant content and advanced SEO are the main factors to achieve high rankings for organic traffic.
Speed of page load will become very important factor by April 2010.
Since automatically generated content contains tags and tokens, there is no content in those WordPress posts until somebody, human or indexing bot, clicks on them.
Then it takes some time for content to be found, unpacked and formatted, before it actually appears on your web page.
This unpacked content (just tags and tokens) creates serious problem if you want to use social bookmarking tools like Slick Social, or Web Traffic Genius or FeedBurner (owned by Google) to submit your posts to RSS aggregators, in order to get legitimate backlinks.
And you need a lot of backlinks in order to get any decent organic ranking in Search Engines.
Importance of social bookmarking and RSS feeds is growing every day. Why do you think Google paid $100 million for FeedBurner in 2007?
Here is what Google says:
"Why is This a Good Thing?
Feeds are a way for websites large and small to distribute their content well beyond just visitors using browsers. Feeds permit subscription to regular updates, delivered automatically via a web portal, news reader, or in some cases good old email. Feeds also make it possible for site content to be packaged into "widgets," "gadgets," mobile devices, and other bite-sized technologies that make it possible to display blogs, podcasts, and major news/sports/weather/whatever headlines just about anywhere".
If you use social bookmarking or RSS submission tools on wp-mage unpacked content, then your tags/tokens will be submitted instead of content, as we can see on Google, where hundreds of thousands mage-tags are indexed.
Having pages with instantly available content will also make indexing by SE faster.
Indexing bots have job to do - to spider and index so many million pages a day.
If they don't perform, they could be fired, and they don't want to lose their jobs. If they come to your not-unpacked mage pages and click on some and have to wait forever, they may say - it takes too long, I'll come in 3 weeks to see if it loads any faster. And you just lost 3 weeks on hundreds of pages which could have been indexed.
To have instant and relevant Tags while auto-generating posts is very important and the plugin is provided on WP Auto Post Slug and Auto Title Tags. It generates also SEO friendly title-slug for your post or page.
So there are two alternatives -
don't use on mage created sites the hottest bookmarking and RSS services and wait forever to get any decent rankings,
or use the methods I developed to trigger (unpack) content for:
A)
Back-dated Posts or Pages
This Solution consists of 2 totally different methods.
1. Back-dated Posts automatic content unpacking WHILE posts are generated live. Warning - I would use it only for up to 50 or 100 posts in each run.
2. Back-dated old Posts complex content unpacking using xenu-wild and ddsg
B)
Future-dated Scheduled Posts
This Solution consists of one simple but effective method.
3. Future-dated Scheduled Posts content unpacking and previewing.
All my testing were done on WP Semiologic Pro hosted on ServInt VPS server.
Permalink structure
If your Permalink is /%postname%/, mage is using it also, you can run into problems as many reported.
You may have conflicts between pages names and posts names.
The correct permalink structure is /%post_id%/%postname%/ or variations of it.
Keep postname at the end, you can use date combination in front also.
In order to fix it correctly, you will need install WP Redirection plugin.
Once you have Redirection activated, then you can change Permalinks to correct structure.
In this order:
Turn Cache off
Redirection plugin installed and activated
Change Permalinks structure
Refresh XML-sitemap
Turn Cache on
